  • Curriculum Overview

    Our curriculum intent

"You have brains in your head.  You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself any direction you choose."

    Dr Seuss

At St Michael's we want our curriculum to whisper to our children: 'You belong in this world.  All this came before you and one day you too might add to it.'

    Our Curriculum Intent

At St Michael's, we want every child to believe, achieve and thrive. Our curriculum helps children make sense of the world, understand their place within it and develop a desire to make it a better place. Through rich experiences and purposeful learning, we nurture curiosity, build confidence and inspire children to dream big.

Rooted in our school value from John 10:10 — “for every child to live an abundant life” — we want every child to experience a life filled with opportunity, purpose and hope. We want the children of St Michael's to engage in a learning journey that will give them a  thirst for knowledge and a lifelong love of learning, encouraging our children to ask questions, embrace challenge and discover what they are capable of.

We want our children to leave us believing in themselves, achieving their potential and thriving as curious, compassionate and aspirational young people, ready to contribute positively to the world.

Healthy Body, Mind and Spirit Curriculum

At St Michael's, we have a bespoke 'Healthy Body, Mind & Spirit Curriculum' (HBMS).  Some aspects of the curriculum we cover in our collective worship, but we also make sure that we have opportunities in class to have age appropriate discussions.

The lessons include discussions about British Values, global citizenship, personal safety, health and mental well-being.
